Hi,
I used to pick the best spots when out in the ministry. Normally it would be on the suniest side of the street and this rover would never cross over. Also left my worries on the doorstep. So just direct my feet.

a while back, someone mentioned that since the word lurker has a sinister connotation, another term should be coined for those who come to the board but don't participate.. i suggest non-active participant or nap.
i came to this forum for seven years before i joined, so i know how difficult it can be to take that first step.. snowbird.

Hi,
I regulary used to visit this site for years without posting and I came across the title "lurker" quite often and found it offensive and derogatory, because as you say it's not very pleasant and has sinister connotations. But having developed a suit of armour against slings and arrows never took it too seriously. However saying that, I feel sure that there are people visiting who would take it to heart especially if they need to feel welcomed and are a little apprehensive about who they are communicating with.So I think a different expression would sound better and give a more truer meaning .Maybe the term " wisdom-seeker" would be more appropriate.
A lurker would be someone who had bad intent and maybe there are people like that viewing but unless you know for definite what a persons intentions are it would be better to use "wisdom- seeker" from now on.
I knew a shop-keeper once who, whenever trade was bad, especially if it was raining, would go to his doorway and start rudely asking the people there if they were loitering.Of course these people obviously would never come back to his shop again so he didn't do himself any favours. It's the same on this site, don't drive anyone away by calling them lurkers, they might just be sheltering with good intent. How about the term "shelteres"?
Just a thought,
Edmond
one of the local congregations is having a farewell "concert" for their co who's leaving.
of course, the book study conductor felt obligated to take control by appointing himself screener of all performances before the event (how shocking!
what's wrong with the song as is?
Hi music lovers everyone,
When I began to doubt the Watchtower lies the Sound of Music had just been released and every other member of the congo had been to see it and raved about it .At the time it was not my type of film or music, because Hard Days Night and Help had got my attention. I new what the film was about and I could not understand why my fellow Witnesses male and female would enjoy a film about a catholic nun. I guessed that they must have been rejoicing because Julie Andrews ,in the film, left the monastry and turned away from the life in a religious order which was under the direction of the devil. Seen the film a few times since those days and quite liked it.
Mary, you have got me yodelling from out my wide open window and I can't seem to stop.
Blondie you have got me waltzing round the room with a chair to "fascination" please could you sing " La Vie En Rose " and I will be enraptured ,if I can stop myself from tripping over: My wife has just walked in and asked me what am I doing with the chair I have had to tell her that I am practising lion taming ready for the new world ; " Hold me close and hold me fast, the magic spell you cast, This is La Vie En Rose. When you kiss me heaven sighs and though I close my eyes I see la Vie En Rose.
Please feel free to join in with the rest of the song as I can hear voices as well.
Edmond.
not intended to offend anyone but i found this article very interesting, if true this may go a long way in explaining why religion flourishes in many places across us of a. .

One in five people in the UK at the present time think it's Winter already. It was revealed during a conversation on a television programme the other evening that a programme producer on the Richard and Judy show thought it was Armageddon because no one seems to have seen the sun recently.
If planet earth revolves around the sun how come we haven't seen it since last Easter. Where is it ,any clues?
Please can you remind us what it looks like.Come to think about it we seem to have lost the Moon as well.Is one silver and the other like a fire ball?
I'm not seeing stars either!
Clouds revolve in the sky and keep emptying themselves at an alarming rate while life boats patrol the streets in Yorkshire ,that's a fact.
Does all this mean that the devil being cast out of heaven is angry because he has so little time left?
Will people be able to pet sharks real soon as well as lions and tigers .

i believe that this article reveals how the the wt society feels about donating to any charity except for themselves..
One thing the Jdubs overlook.Jesus made sure that hungry people were fed,the lame and sick cured .Since when did anyone hear The Governing Body encourage anyone to become anything other than a Whacktower sales person.
How can you preach to someone who is so hungry that they have only days to live if they don't get food inside them pretty quickly. What about medical attention.? Broken bones ?" answer ," Stop complaining any excuse not to go door to door."" I need a blood transfusion" answer, "Give over no you don't."

Terrible, unless they are in line for it.
Gather up your pans and your old tin cans, run like the devil from the excise man,
keep smoke from rising barley;
It could have been the Good old Mountain Dew.

what are the top 5 books you would either recommend and/or have had the greatest influence on you?
(if you only want to mention one or two that's fine as well.).
if you feel like it, please briefly tell us why.
Too many to list right now but I have just read The Thunder Bolt Kid by Bill Bryson it's about growing up in America in the fifties - brilliantly funny. Read all of his books and think they are great .He is an amazing travel writer as well ,another one of his laugh out loud books is called A Walk In The Woods. Which is about walking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, through some of the most arresting and celebrated landscapes in America - the Smokey Mountains,Shenandoah National Park,The Berkshire Hills of Massachuetts and the Great North Woods of Maine.
If you need cheering up read Bill Bryson.
the wts claim to be theocratic when really they are a dictatorship .when ever did they consult the rank and file and why do so many followers accept blindly their pronouncements.maybe it's because of fear or perhaps just plain ignorance.why can't the g.body write to every jw and ask their opinions about forth coming changes to the washtower editions.they could ask individual members by means of a questionaire ; things like, how satisfied are you with the society?
tick one box ",very satisfied", "not very satisfied"," who gives a monkeys".
"always" or "almost always" or " are you peeing down my back or is it raining".another question; the statement millions now living will never die , only tick one box remember , "was true at the time", or" was never true" or "still true today" or " i believe whatever , do i look bothered".. last question ; because we are tax exempt and a charity case what is the the most humanitarian act do you think we have carried out?
